Is Link Building Just A Hot Trend in Internet Marketing or Gold
Having a website can be one of the most fun and interesting adventures that a person can have. There are several reasons for wanting to have an online presence, ranging from publishing your personal thoughts on a blog, to advertising a business and making money online. Unfortunately, there are millions of good sites on the Internet that offer good information, products or services that never get seen. One of the main reasons why some websites go unseen is because the site owner does not know how to organically optimize their pages so that they show up near or at the top of the search engine’s results when certain keywords are searched for.
Without going into depth and the complexity of how search engines work, a little bit of knowledge can go a very long way. Search engines tend to value websites that have important information, have been in existence a long time and are trusted by other sites. The last one is one of the most important things to know because it can be at times forgotten about by website owners. A site can have all of the key optimization ingredients, but if it not trusted by other websites, then it could hurt the sites search engine ranking.
Gaining trust from other websites actually comes from incoming links. For example, if you own a website and another website puts a link to one of your website pages on their site, that is considered an incoming link. In order to truly be considered an incoming link, the link must come from an outside website (not related to or owned by the website being linked to) and it must not be a mutual link (where both websites link to each other).
When a website owner starts link building and starts receiving incoming links from other websites, they may see their search engine ranking go up. It is important to remember though that quality is normally better than quantity when link building is involved. It is generally better to have a few incoming links from well ranked websites than it is to have several incoming links from websites with low ranking. This is because the higher the rank of a website, the more trusted it is by the search engines. Websites with low ranking or no ranking at all are not as trusted and will therefore not carry the same optimization weight that higher ranking websites will.
There are countless number of ways to optimize a website, but building incoming links is one of the most beneficial and it is also completely free to do. It does take time and dedication, but the results can increase website traffic and get a website seen in the search engine results.
