The North Platte River was once used by pioneers to traverse portions of the West.  Indians hunted buffalo along its shores, and its fish population has made it a legend for Colorado fly fishing.  It is located in Northwestern Colorado and has been rated a gold medal river by experts.  You will find many trout in the waters of the Platte and be able to enjoy some beautiful scenery at the same time!

Outside of the Vail area is the Colorado River, flowing down through the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park.  This particular river is huge, being quite wide and deep but it also has smooth flowing water.  The shores are lined with towering cottonwood trees, making this an ideal place for the trout to hide, especially brown trout.  Therefore, for anyone who wants great Colorado fly fishing, the Colorado River is one of the best places to visit.

Another area is in the Southwest where the Arkansas River flows, also outstanding for catching trout.  While fishing is great all year, the mid-winter and spring months are the best.  However, every year around Mother’s Day, the caddis are known for hatching.  This means that brown trout have lots to eat, forcing them from their secret places and becoming easy to fish for.

Throughout the state of Colorado are many incredible fishing spots with these being just a few.  The fishing is the best in the country, not to mention the breathtaking countryside.  To complete any fishing trip, people can stay in wonderful accommodations located throughout the state.  Without doubt, Colorado fly fishing is an experience of a lifetime, especially in Colorado where there are so many adventures.

Well fishing season here in New Brunswick is running short. This weekend is going to be the last day out for me, thanks to my newest fishing buddy Jamie. And just yesterday I put all my fishing gear away thinking we were done for this year.

I woke up this morning to see Jamie jumping up and down in my email, asking if I would like to go Pickerel fishing just one more time. Who could turn that offer down. I emailed him back ASAP and said I would be waiting by the road side for him to pick me up. I tend to get a bit eager.

The last time we were out Chain Pickerel fishing I used up all but two of my favorite hooks for fishing the weeds so I will have to get out of the house long enough to grab another pack or two as they make a huge difference in the amount of Pickerel we land and release.

Our last trip to Chipman, New Brunswick was awesome but the leaves were still green. This time around the temperatures have dropped enough to change the color of the leaves so we should have a very colourful day on the water. I will try to get some pictures. I have a terrible habit of taking it all in and forgetting to take out my camera.
