In these past decades, we have seen the advance of modern technology, which has given boost to the popularity of one of the oldest and most efficient methods of prospects targeting and converting, information-based marketing.

It is time for writers to get those creative writing skills back, and take part in in this development.  A lot of Internet Marketers have taken advantage of this popularity in article marketing by coming up with with tools and resources to make the article distribution process more effectual.  Decidedly, this is helpful in obtaining wider exposure for the article contents.  However, this is only half of the story.

Even though those tools and resources will help writers in obtaining more exposure for the article contents, they will not help if writers experience the common mistakes, explained in below paragraphs, before they submit their contents to article directories.  We will also have a look at some ways that could be employed to avoid these mistakes in the following paragraphs.

1. Lack of lucidity in the purpose of writing the article.

It is important that writers be able to differentiate the reason to promote the articles from the reason to write them. There are three incentives why you want to promote your articles, and they are all part of your optimization efforts.  These are branding, lead generation, and promotion.  However,  informing your audience is the only reason why you want to write your article. If you confuse these objectives, which results in your article not having the intended purpose, you can expect that no one will be interested in reading them.  Thereupon, your article will fail to attain the three promotional benefits.  Before you write your article, take the time to clearly define your purpose in writing the article, then compose an interesting and entertaining article.  If you do this right, you will receive more visitors to your site from people who will want to explore more after reading your article.

2. Ineffective application of promotional opportunities in marketing the article.

You maybe aware that article marketing can be employed to increase your backlinks, but do you know that the same article can also be put to use to gain more visitors and better search engine results? How this is accomplished is by planting keywords in strategic places.  Just be conscious to not over do them when using this strategy.  This keyword placement is accomplished with the use of an effective method called anchor texts. Keep in mind that most directories do not support the application of anchor texts in the body of the article; only in the resource box.  However, even though this a common practice among most article directories, don’t assume that this is so for all of the directories.  A few of them do permit writers to install these anchor texts in the article body.  To make sure what the general practice is for each directory, please check their editorial or article submission guidelines before you submit your article.

Part of the goals of article submission is for other publishers with a large number of audiences to pick up your article thereby you attaining the capacity to leverage your promotion because of the quality of your article.  In addition to article marketing directories, a lot of people also use another kind of article marketing service that  uses blog submission in distributing your articles.  One of the advantages you will obtain using this kind of article marketing service is ability to spin your article so that each blog submission will have a unique content.  You will also experience faster distribution with this service, because your article is distributed to different blogs all at one time.  This means that you don’t have to depend on other publishers to pick up your article.  Besides building your backlinks, article marketing will also provide you with the benefit of better search engine placement.

3. Content publication that is valueless for your readers

If you write interesting and valuable articles that directories want to share with others you can double the number of sites that will publish your article.  With the multiplication of the number of sites publishing your article your audience will conceivably increase overnight.  One publisher with hundred thousand readers will have done this.  To get the most effective way out of your article marketing you need to produce articles that the publishers will want to have in their publications.  As long as you create good and interesting content and abide by the publisher guidelines, the publisher will gladly approve and publish your article.

It is up to you whether you want a little exposure from increased backlinks on a minimal level, or a massive exposure by producing quality contents, the choice will be yours. As you can see, the level of exposure you will get from an average quality and highly-targeted content geared on specific group of people will be much, much different.  You’ll be on your way to gaining huge dividends from your article marketing if you can learn and fulfill this in your writing.
